Calligraphy

As in previous years, the students will be able to have their names written in calligraphy in Japanese, Chinese, Hebrew, Korean, Greek, and many more languages.

Scavenger hunt

Between the hours of 9 a.m.–12 p.m., the students will have the opportunity to participate in an inter-cultural scavenger hunt. There will be two rooms with language booths containing information about each language and culture. The students will pick up a scavenger hunt worksheet which will contain about 30 questions in all the languages represented by the booths. They will have to figure out in what language each question appears, what the question says, and go to the appropriate booth to find the answer. After 12 pm, all worksheets will be graded and all those with perfect responses will be thrown into a box. We will then draw names for prizes. Prizes will be given out at 1:15-1:30 p.m.

Mini-lessons

There will be three rooms available for mini-lessons, which will run from 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m. Examples of languages from last year are: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. We hope to have even a larger selection this year (e.g., this year we'll have Russian!). Mini-lessons will be 15 minutes with a five-minute passing time and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year we hope to offer dance sessions from different cultures such as Chinese Lion Dance, flamenco, salsa, and capoeira. These sessions will also be on a first-come, first-served basis
